The GAB (generically aggressive babble) of conventional marketing doesn’t get it.

They would tell me to use this bio page to tell you all about how I used to be poor/ugly/fat/stupid until I learned this BIG SECRET…(which I can only tell you after you pay me). The GAB teaches us to sell ourselves and our work short, instead relying on leveraging shame and subconscious social triggers: if you don’t buy My Thing, you’ll always be P/U/F/S.

The simplistic, self-deprecating rags-to-riches ‘Cinderella’ story is bullshit.

It’s signaling to your clients that there is something wrong with them as they are. It’s dumbing you down. And, it’s playing small. These kinds of narratives undermine the authority you’ve actually earned and the competencies you actually have.

I don’t play those games. I’m not your fairy godmother. And, I’m not the kind of copywriter who’ll take your exquisite complexity and bippity-boppity-boo it. If you work with me, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves (you can still wear a fairy princess ball gown if that’s your thing) and digging into the depth and nuance of your work.

  • I have a Master’s Degree in poetry and writing. Poetry taught me to respect language and its potency. It showed me the profound power our words have in determining our impact.

  • I’m a certified Radical Aliveness Practitioner. With this 4 year professional training in embodied leadership and social complexity I specialize in supporting women to find their voice and claim their power. I’ve run women’s groups and retreats in Northern California.

  • I’ve been the content developer and copywriter for changemaking brands and institutions throughout the US and Asia. I’ve done brand consulting in Hong Kong and worked as a photojournalist in the tea industry in Mainland China. I’ve taught college level writing, poetry workshops and comparative literature. I’ve managed brands and brand voice for higher education institutions, small businesses and corporations.
