The Whole Shebang

“Mary found the words to translate my soul.”

— Claudia Cordova Rucker

Business Owner & award-winning author of “Beyond Ordinary Business”

You know why you’re here.

Your vision is clear.

You’re on track to ruffle the business-as-usual feathers.

(Let’s be real, business-as-usual isn’t fun enough for feathers).

You’re ready to go ALL IN:

We’re talking the whole nine-yard-ball-of-wax-hold-my-beer kind of IN.

Thank the Gods!

Your life’s work is waiting for you.

And-- ahem, look around. The world needs it. Bad.

I can help.

Picture_MD_Cut_3.png

I can find the words to make it make sense.

And making sense = making money (and changing the world while you’re at it).

So, you know that vaguely persistent lurch in the back of your throat whenever someone asks you about your work and you try to explain your brilliance in...

...onelongrunonsentencebecauseI’mnotsurehowtosayitit’scomplexbutsomewhereinhereismylife’smagnificence?

Yea, that.

(take a breath)

 Be done with that.

On the other side of the inspired overwhelm and zealous word salad ...is money + impact.

I see you-- entrepreneur. You are a brilliant human being. You’re probably one of those people brimming with ALL THE IDEAS. It’s annoying how many ideas you have.

And not just ideas! You make ideas *happen.* You organize and implement.

You’ve built your brand from the ground up and you’re ready to level up and take it to the stars.

Here’s the thing. There’s a colossal difference between ideation/organization/implementation and... effective WRITING.

Unless you’re a fellow copywriter (if you are, say hi!), writing is not your business.

Your business is doing that thing you just can’t not do. (psst probably because it’s your life’s work). You know that.

100% of my clients tell me something like:

“I’m fully committed, I know what I want to say, I just can’t figure out how to say it.”

Dude. That’s not just normal, it’s expected. In fact, it’s a good thing.

If you’re reading this, whatever your work is--it’s deep. And complex. And probably, disruptive to the extractive, heteronormative, toxic status quo.

Which means it’s also really powerful. And important.

And your relationship to it is immersive (because duh, that’s the only way to do deep work, authentically).

Even if you are a great writer, it’s hard to sing to the soup you’re swimming in.

(don’t worry, in your copy I promise not to mix metaphors).

Getting your story straight is arguably the most important foundation to a thriving business.

When your message is as clear as your conviction--your work takes flight. Your people can hear you (and then PAY you).

The way I see it, launching a deep business (ie. business that shapes a just and empowered culture)  in a complex world is a profound and intimate process.

It needs time. And space. And commitment.

(And if you’re like me, probably lots of long hikes and bubble baths.)

Most of all, deep business needs supportive allies--people who GET you.

Am I one of your allies?

Not everyone gets me. (love you, Dad).

But the ones who do, really do.

This process? It’s not for everyone.

But, if you’re still reading this and nodding along and you’re all “I get this girl” chances are--

I’ll get you, too. And this! This is where the magic happens.

When you’re ready to go ALL IN, say YES to having both impact & money--

The Whole Shebang and I are here for you.

Brand Lexicon: language style guide*

Once we get started this process usually takes about 6-8 weeks.

Here’s how it works

• The first step is to schedule a free 30 min consultation to introduce me to your work and share your vision. At that point, I can answer all your questions about the process and we can decide if we want to work together. (If not, I’ll try to refer you to another copywriter who might better fit your needs.)

• You pay your deposit and I send you my intake form.

• Once you’ve filled it out, we schedule a 90-minute jam session where you tell me ALL ABOUT IT.

• Then, I’m off to my writer’s lodge (ahem, kitchen table) to write, write, write.

• When your piping hot-off-the-press copy is ready, I will upload it to our shared google drive folder along with personalized Loom videos to walk you through the framework of the new messaging.

• We schedule another call where you have a chance (actually, 2 chances) to give me feedback for revision.

• Finalized copy is delivered to you via google docs.

*Included in this process is your very own “Brand Lexicon” guideline pdf.

This is basically a dictionary of the specific vocabulary, value statements, bi-lines and phrases we’ve excavated from our work together.

Similar to a graphic designer’s “Brand guidelines” document, this allows you to mix and mingle your language across multiple platforms while maintaining a consistent voice; the unique one we’ve created that feels like you and your work. This is not typically a part of the copywriting process. But like I said, I do things my own way.

I’m committed to co-empowerment, which in this case means I want to do my best to give you the tools to craft your own copy efficiently as you move forward with your business.

It’s that whole give a woman a fish vs. teach a woman to fish thing…

SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT

Wow, Mary makes you feel so good. It's sooooo scary to open up your heart and energy to someone else hoping they 'get it,' even more, that they get that you're not here for "business as usual." Mary makes that so easy. She's incredible at what she does. She came highly recommended, but, still, I was nervous to collaborate in this really intimate way.

As a coach in the online world, I'm all too intimate with bizarre support services over-promising, under-delivering, and generally making me question myself. Mary was the complete opposite.

She made me feel so seen and was critical in me birthing out my vision for vibrancy in a deeply intersectional feminist way.
She's also a joy to spend time with.

And, then. There's the copy.
The copy is incredible.
She's a word witch.

The cherry on top - the Brand Lexicon. Whenever I'm having a slow content day or have to pull a promo post out of nowhere, I dip into my Lexicon and voila - golden copy in <5 mins.

I feel wonderful about my investment in her work.
The ROI is FAB & the ROE (Return on Energetics) is even better!

I can't rate Mary highly enough.
I've found my copywriter for life!"
